"The Accidental Cougar" By: Tiffany N. York Review

The Accidental Cougar
By: Tiffany N. York

Synopsis from Goodreads
Forty-one-year-old Nicole Woods was content raising her son alone, working as an ad exec, and indulging in the more than occasional cleaning frenzy...until the night she met Wil Blanco.
Her friends have decided that while her son is away for six weeks, it's the perfect opportunity for Nicole to have a summer fling. Heading the top of the list is Wil -- sexy, successful, full of life...and twenty-five!
Regretfully, Nicole declares him "hands-off," but soon he's complicating everything, from her job at the advertising agency to her self-imposed ban on relationships.
When Wil becomes her top client, she has even more reason to adhere to her "hands-off" policy. So why is Nicole finding it so hard to keep her hands off him?
My Thoughts

To be honest, I was a little wary reading about cougars. I hate the term and just think of those crazy tanned ladies on all the reality shows. The synopsis drew me into the book and the characters kept me there.
Nicole is a divorced 40-something who loves her son, her family, and her job. She has wonderful, hilarious friends and finds herself fulfilled with life. It isn’t until her son leaves for a visit with his Father across the country that she finds herself lonely. Nicole ends up on a girls night out with her friends and when a drink arrives from sexy Wil, what else should she do but get to know him just a bit better?
Wil is a 20 something executive strongly attracted to self assured Nicole. She has a good job, is comfortable with herself, her friends and her family and has self confidence. At first resistant, Wil finds a way to push past Nicole’s defenses and makes her see that age is simply a number.
I think the thing that struck me most about this book was how funny it was. I loved how Nicole was so realistic. One particular point in the book, she and her four friends (who were fabulous! loved the friends!!) find themselves at a nudist resort, only they don’t realize until they walked into the door. I literally was sitting in my front door and started laughing out loud startling my dog with how funny the whole situation was.
A fantastic romance about older ladies and younger men, I really enjoyed Tiffany York’s The Accidental Cougar. Nicole was realistic in her concerns for life and Wil was just plain cute. I didn’t see any information about a sequel or others in a series, but I can safely say I will be picking up York’s work in the future.
